Mighty Maori mariners and their waka hourua. . .
Long, long ago the mighty Maori mariners discovered Aotearoa.
There were seven waka travelling together, and they were called Takitimu, Mataatua.
Other wakas were called Te Arawa, Tokomaru and Kurahaupo.
Kupe led the way for the other mighty mariners. Over 80 people rowed the waka.

Wow! I am so impressed with your work! I am a graduate student at the University of Northern Colorado in the USA. I am studying to become an Elementary teacher and I hope to teach Kindergarten or 2nd Grade. I would love to set up a blog like this at my school. Keep up the good work, you all DO rock!

Yvonne you are AMAZING! Your story is full of all kinds of information that I am sure some of the older children don't even know. And your waka is a very cool art work. Well done. Mrs Burt
