The waka lands on NZ shores. . .
This is Kupes waka sailing into New Zealand. My sun has got some moko (maori tattoo) on its face because he is happy that Kupe found New Zealand. The waka has got koru carved in the sides and a taniwha to scare the things in the sea and keep the people safe! Thats why he has a scary pukana face. . .

Venetias waka hourua!
Kupe was the leader of the seven waka, and they were called Mataatua, Tainui, Te Arawa, Kurahaupo, Tokomaru, Aotea and Takitimu.
Over 80 people rowed the wakas and they were twin hulled waka.
They bought food and supplies to survive their dangerous, treacherous journey.
They bought things like bananas, coconuts, chickens and drinking water in
carved out gourds.
